Fire can be seen throughout the red city of Sanandaj as the chants "death to dictator" and "Mobarak, Ben Ali, now Seyyed Ali" fill the air.
Protests began at 5pm. Khamarbandi, 25th of Shahrivar, Fayzabad to Farah streets towards Karamuzi, have all been taken over by the people and youth. Thousands of people have come out of their homes and into the streets to dance and party.
The people on 25th of Shahrivar Street have attacked the mayor's office, breaking the office's windows as well as security vehicle windows.
When security is in groups of less than 50-60, they do not dare approach the people as the people are defending themselves with rocks, sticks and whatever they can find.
The latest news at 8:15pm is loud chants of "death to dictator" being resonating from 25th of Shahrivar Street.
